Okay so, the other day I went running in the morning. I was looking around and passed by this Burger King and noticed it's billboard said only healthy things on it like "wraps, salads, fruit smoothies". Then later that day, I saw that they had announced they're going to start making the switch to using cage-free chicken for their food...."okay," I thought, "that's pretty sweet I support that." THEN, oh then, I read that some guy did this study with people where he had them order healthy meals from McDonalds and those people actually lost weight. So then I started mulling over the current obesity "epidemic" going on in the United States. Yes its bad, we're the fattest country in the world. But can you see what's happening here? Things are getting better. People are becoming more health conscious, thus promoting fast foods joints, grocery stores, major brands to start making their food less processed and more nutritious. There are more and more websites and blogs popping up with free workouts, and fitness and nutrition advice to get people started on a healthier path. There are shows on TV encouraging people to go out and get fit by showing peoples' before & after stories. People are finally realizing they need to treat their bodies better and its becoming easier and easier for them to do that. Its a slow process, but things are getting better.
This saying ties into what part of the CES fireside was about tonight. Elder Jensen of the Quorum of the Seventy spoke a little about how we need opposition to grow in this mortal life. These experiences fulfill our purpose for being here on Earth because we wouldn't get them if we still lived with Heavenly Father. Whether good or bad, these experiences are shaping us and testing our faith and trust in Christ. He'll never, ever give up on us or give us challenges we can't overcome though, so we shouldn't give up on him.
